Overview
A study on the derived categories of canonical stacks associated to general threefolds demonstrates that these categories are semiorthogonally indecomposable within the principal component of the moduli space of canonical threefolds located on the refined Noether line.
Approach
The mathematical framework builds upon multiple existing criteria and constructions in algebraic geometry:
- Generalization of the Kawatani–Okawa criterion: The authors extend the indecomposability criterion originally established by Kawatani and Okawa for derived categories of surfaces of general type, adapting it to higher-dimensional varieties and stacks.
- Extension of geometric constructions and classifications: The framework incorporates and generalizes a geometric construction due to Kobayashi and Hu–Zhang, alongside a classification result established by Coughlan and Pignatelli, extending both formulations to the second and third Noether lines.
Findings
By applying the generalized Kawatani–Okawa criterion to the setups established on the second and third Noether lines, the researchers establish that the criterion directly applies to the canonical stacks under consideration. Consequently, the derived categories of canonical stacks associated to general threefolds in the principal component of the moduli space on the refined Noether line are shown to be semiorthogonally indecomposable.
