Overview
Space4Architecture (S4A), a local studio, completed the conversion of a 1931 warehouse located in Brooklyn's Columbia Street Waterfront District into a private residence. The project transformed the original structure into a 4,400-square-foot (409-square-meter) home, situated on a 2,500-square-foot (232-square-meter) infill parcel.
Approach
The design approach by Space4Architecture retained elements consistent with the neighborhood's industrial heritage. Key modifications included the introduction of a double-height living space within the interior and the application of a black-painted facade to the exterior of the formerly 1931 warehouse structure.
